3 Scramblers you Should Checkout - RideNow Chandler / Euro

Jul. 10 2018 Announcements By RideNow Chandler

Scramblers are the original dual sport motorcycles that were built out of necessity and desire. From a time when riders took their stock cruisers and stripped them down to the essentials to make them lightweight, then throw on some moto cross style handle bars and adding some nubby tires for traction before racing them through the dirt and the sand. In honor of their pioneering spirit, here are three badass scramblers you should check out.

1. BMW R NINE T SCRAMBLER (MSRP starting at $13,000)

According to BMW, "the BMW R nine T Scambler empowers you to do your own thing. Tough, unconventional, and against the established standards. Made for true characters who want their bike to be pure and minimalistic".

One can't help but think the "established standards" is a jab at the king of scramblers, Triumph, and if it is, BMW needed to bring their A game.

Outfitted with their reliable shaft driven 1200cc boxer engine, which is bigger than the competition, high handle bars, and traditional high exhaust. You get a dual sport bike that is more than capable on or off the beaten path with 86 lb-ft torque and 110 hp.

On the styling front, the R nine T shares the same bulldog characteristics as the rest of the Heritage line.

Short wheel base and stocky gas tank area, gives it a distinct style, that won’t be mistaken for any other scrambler.

2. Ducati Scrambler (MSRP $7,999-$11,500)

While the competition has one or two different scrambler models, Ducati has six! Though technically one is a cafe racer but they sell it under the scrambler badge. Out of all the models, one stands out as a true scrambler, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.

At first glance, it looks like a motorcycle and dirt bike had a baby which makes it hard not to make this your favorite scrambler.

High seat, high fenders, adjustable suspension, and rally tires are just some of the things you’ll love on this bike. Compared to the BMW R nine T, the Desert Sled is smaller with an 803cc motor that produces 50 lb-ft of torque and 75 hp. However, its light weight and raised stance should make riding in the dunes a lot of fun.

In fact, Ducati is counting on you wanting to spend more time off-road then on. It’s heritage comes from the modified motorcycles used in the California desert. Reflecting the “spirit without forgetting lifestyles values, and expands the Ducati Scrambler family with a new version dedicated to off-road stye".

3. Triumph Scrambler (MSRP $9400)

When you think of scramblers, this is the one that comes to mind. Seriously, if Triumphs were cool enough for Steve McQueen, then it’s cool enough for you.

And actually, riders like McQueen is what inspired this motorcycle, when they stripped down their Bonnevilles and added dirt bike tires for races such as the 1964 International Six Day Trial in East Germany.

The scrambler comes with a peppy air-cooled 865cc eight valve motor. And their iconic style is recognizable by its high level stacked exhaust with heat shields, ribbed seat, fork gators, high seat and gas tank knee pads.

The Triumph Scrambler is tried and tested dual sport motorcycles that are not meant just for city streets. In fact, when others are riding full on adventures bikes with all the tech their hearts could want, others have opted for the simplicity this bike offers on their off-road adventures. A simple google search will yield images of the Triumph Scramblers conquering far off lands.
